I have noticed that my creative spurt has recently dried up (leaving me rather crusty). It hasn't bothered me especially, until I thought about WHY this might have happened. I realized, it happened right about a week ago--when I got a new game. I have been a gamer for most of my life, and of course I have battled with the more obsessive side of it. In college, I had to have a friend lock up my Diablo disc during finals, and I once played Warcraft 2 for 29 hours straight. I know it can be very, very bad for me to get into a game. My wife keep s me from getting too caught up in my own entertainment, but now, when my free time is reduced to just a few hours a day--hmmm. I need to reconsider my time allocation, perhaps.
But damn, do I love me some R-Force Tactics! (US title, R-Force Command.)

I know I said I'd review That Stross Book but...well, I got all caught up in this game, see, and then I started to read some other books and then I got on this new website about SF and stufff...annnnndddd...
I'm really lazy. I'll do it...as soon as I get off my ass.

New (obsolete) tech obsession.
I just discovered The Sharp Zaurus (the C1000 is my soon-to-be-baby). It is already out of production but it is almost exactly what I would have designed if someone had asked me to design a PDA. Qwerty keyboard and touch screen, clamshell design, LINUX operating system!!!! It has Word Processing and PDA software for my ebooks and on-the-go writing, video and audio for my eyes and ears, and a PS1 emulator for my lusty lusty heart. The linux OS means that there is a really robust homegrown software community, and tons of diversity out there. It is also a nice way to learn Linux, and it's just so pretty. Luckily, they are still available in shops here in Japan, and the wife said I could have one for my birfday.
I'm embarrassingly squealy about it.
